EXPERIENCE

My interest in working with young people began when, as a teenager, I took on babysitting jobs during my summer breaks. In no time at all, I became interested in the emotional and overall development of children and the ways in which they absorbed information. It was clear to me that a positive, safe environment coupled with a creative atmosphere, unquestionably, had a profound impact on not only the children's overall wellbeing but also on their entire learning experience.

Since then, I have continued to work with children in many age groups and with varying degrees of structure and content; it has become clear that the excitement of capturing and encouraging creative freedom over all disciplines and curricula is unmistakable, all encompassing and consistent.

Middle School Tutor

SUMMER 2020 -SUMMER 2021
>Designed curriculum for underserved middle school students which incorporated a diverse set of learning styles; in order to best suit the individual needs of each student, they included visual and kinesthetic learning.
>Developed close partnerships with students and their families through regular personalized updates and suggestions on how parents could support their student’s literacy.

Frosh 101 Instructor

AUGUST 2019 -JUNE 2021
>Served both as a teacher to future instructors and as a mentor, thereby building enduring partnerships with the students and fostering community.
> A part of this building included exercises and curricula built to facilitate group dialogue.

Elementary School Tutor

JUNE 2021 -SEPTEMBER 2021
>Developed individualized lesson plans for one on one teaching which spanned both STEM and academics in the humanities with an inquiry-based and student-centered approach.
>Tutoring sessions centered culturally sensitive pedagogy so as to find points of synchronization between school curriculum and the student’s lived experience
